Kenyan Woman Wins Nobel Prize

I am sure every Kenyan blogger is blogging about this and I don’t want to be left out. For the first time since 1901 an African woman, a Kenyan with dreadlocks to be more specific, has won the Nobel Prize.

Congrats Prof. Wangari Maathai. You deserve it.

  1. I’m not Sure how I feel about the whole thing: The award has a patronising air to it since Maathai is known more for environmental causes as opposed to conflict reduction/resolution. The suggestion that world peace presently hangs on environmental salvation is simply contrived. But then again, I could say Hail the African woman like the Norwegians.

  4. Hongera to the sista lakini it was a shame that they had to do her bio on how the Kenyan govt mistreated her etc More of a shame that she might use all that money to plant more trees…dang! :)
