Today I had a meeting with the lawyer who carried out the legal review on the elderly in Belize, Mr Michael Peyrefitte. It was a great meeting and we covered a lot of ground.
The Belizean Constitution does not prohibit age discrimination and Mr Peyrefitte advised me that it would make my task a lot easier if I could focus on getting the constitution amended. So that is now my main task.
Tomorrow I am off to Belize City to meet the Managing Directors of two major Belizean banks with a view to getting them to agree to provide and promote services and benefits for their older customers.
