The Belmopan branch of the Lions club held a fair to raise money for the Caribbean victims of Hurricane Ivan. My host’s school had a tombola/lucky dip stall and a couple of volunteers and I went along to help.
We arrived at about 11 am and the DJ had already set up his stand and was blasting LOUD dance-hall music, not the sort of thing you want to hear especially after a night out. Our stall was up and running by midday and about an hour later it rained, and rained, and rained! Thankfully we were under a marquee but the weather did affect the turnout though it certainly did not affect the mood of those who turned up.
The music got better and we were stood next to a food stall so I was having a great time.
We managed to raise $200 which is not bad considering each lucky dip ticket was 50 cents. I won a Belmopan Upper School T-shirt and pin badge which I wore for the rest of the day.
A good day!
