Unique Belize Part 2…

I realised after writing this, I had forgotten a few other things that make Belize unique so here are some more.

Belize City
Not the city itself, though it is a fairly unique place, this is more to do with how Belizeans refer to Belize City. They simply call it Belize. No-one told me this in advance and after about a week or so of being here someone asked me if I had been to Belize. I thought they were asking if I had ever been to Belize (the country) before. So I said no. The person then told me that I should make a point of visiting Belize as it is a lot more exciting than Belmopan. At this point two thoughts crossed my mind: either I had landed in the wrong country or somehow, overnight, Belmopan had declared itself an independent state. I did not ask any more questions and simply said that I shall make a point of visiting Belize while I am here in..er..Central America. I eventually worked it out for myself.

Short Men
Disclaimer: The word short is used in the relative sense. I am 5ft 10 - without heels so when I use the word short to refer to a member of the opposite sex I mean any male person whose head, when stood in a vertical position, without the aid or assitance of high heeled shoes, is situated no more than a distance of 6 feet away from the ground.

Most men here are barely 5ft 8. I have counted no more than 6 men who are 6 feet and above….what’s up with that?

Music
The music is good in this country especially if you are into dance-hall, reggae and Salsa BUT no matter which club you go to or which band you listen to, the songs do not change! I have not been here long enough to work out if they have some sort of seasonal thing going on. Maybe this is the autumn/fall/hurricane season collection?

I think that is it for now….
