For those who don’t know Mich, my fiancé, has spent the last four years studying for a PhD in Computer Science. Last Thursday he had his viva and I can proudly announce that he passed!
It goes without saying that all of us who know Mich are incredibly proud of him. As someone who has known Mich since the first year of undergraduate I can honestly say I couldn’t think of a more deserving character.
Mich proved way back when that he was much smarter than the rest of us. While we were out celebrating our 2:1 Mich was humbly announcing that he had just received a First! While the rest of us had to make do with doing a Masters; Mich jumped straight into a Doctoral programme.
Through out the four years, Mich has not only been a conscientious and hardworking student; he has also been an extremely supportive boyfriend/fiancé.
Immediately after Mum was involved in the Busia crash, Mich took a month of his studies to fly out with me to Kenya and through out the entire time he has provided endless support for me and my family.
He stood by me as I planned to head out to Belize and even this year, while my family and I suffered another set back, Mich was among the first to stand up and be counted.
Yet despite all these things, Mich was able to submit his thesis last December, which was on IPv6 Networking and Transitioning, and most importantly he was able to sail through his viva like a “true expert� (according to one of the examiners)
So with out further ado: I extend my congratulations to Dr Mackay. I am extremely proud of you love!
Congratulations Mich! Its also really sweet of u to share with us an achievement in your life.
He does really sound like a great person. Standing with you thru the misfortunes and good times and taking on his education and coming out lead.

Thanks everybody, its taken a couple of days to get my head around it but, yeah, I’m very proud of what I’ve achieved. I’m also pretty sure that being with Kui has helped in a big way these last few years by providing constant love and support around me which is all important in the dark days during write-up.
Thanks again for all the messages of congrats, I’m proud to be considered a member of the KBW family, even by extension.
My only regret about the whole thing is that I’m officially not a student any more and therefore forced to join the ‘real-world’

Congratulations Dr Mackay - that is quite an achievement. You sound like a cool human, and Kui, so are you. Hope you have happy times ahead in the real world, its not that bad, most people have lived in it for a while and turned out alright (I am not one of them ;( )
Kui, as an aside, how come you are so lucky to have a Dr as a Fiancé and another for a blog husband - dont you think you should leave one of these fine human specimens for some of us gals, eh?
