Mama JunkYard’s…

Tue 15th February 2005 MamaJunkYard

I have finally given my blog a name. Mama JunkYard’s

When I was really young my uncles used to tell me that I was found in a junk yard somewhere in Eldoret. Whenever I would remind them that I was born in New York they would tell me it was a lie that my mum came up with so I wouldn’t feel bad.

Around this time my fully grown uncles were going through a Tom and Jerry phase and there was one episode they really liked. The episode, called Baby Puss sees Tom dressed up as a baby – diapers, bib and bonnet. Jerry decides to invite the street cats in so they can all have a laugh at Tom. One cat dresses up in a skirt, places a fruit basket on his head and sing his own rendition of Carmen Miranda’s Mama En Quiero.

My uncles decided to replace the Portuguese words with Mama JunkYard and each time we drove past a junkyard they would point back and forth from junkyard to me singing:

‘Mama junkYard, Mama JunkYard, Mama ma ma ma ma mama Mama Junkyard’

Oh and yes that is a picture of me in the header…

It’s always found it interesting how one decides on the name of their blogs/journals.

I had TONS of entries before I even had a name for my place.

Oh Kui you brought some sweet memories with that, do you remember your yellow gumboots, raincoat and umbrella to match and how you packed your bags and sat talking to Muthani, the nightwatchman. Nice name for your blog by the way
Kui Says: LOL…trust family to bring up those ‘oh so funny’ baby stories..

Hello my name is Cassandra Stinde:

I am curious to know of which Stinde Kaki is referring, as I am looking up my family tree. My aunt that usually handles the Genelogy of the family has deceased this January, I have taken on this responsiblity. I live in the United States. If you would be so kind to place me in contact with any Stinde’s that any of you may know, it is greatly appreciated. Thank You So Kindly.
