In the wee hours of the night I passed by Larry\u00c3\u00a2\u00e2\u201a\u00ac\u00e2\u201e\u00a2s blog, Destiny\u00c3\u00a2\u00e2\u201a\u00ac\u00e2\u201e\u00a2s Bastard <\/a>and read, for the first time, about the brutal murder of 19 year old Rashawn Brazell<\/a>. Today I visited his blog again and contained in this <\/a>beautifully written entry was a call to action:<\/p>\n

If you realize that visibility and audibility are key, and that blogs have the ability to serve as a key weapon in the fight against marginalization and injustice, well… write on.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

So here I am\u00c3\u00a2\u00e2\u201a\u00ac\u00c2\u00a6.writing on.<\/p>\n

Somewhere, somehow, someone has decided that some lives are worth more than others. <\/p>\n

Somewhere, somehow, someone has decided that this hierarchy that exists in the realm of the living also applies to those who have passed on.<\/p>\n

Somewhere, somehow, someone decided to take away the life of a 19 year old African American gay man.<\/p>\n

Somewhere, somehow, someone decided that this was not a news worthy story.<\/p>\n

Somewhere somehow someone decided speak only of body parts <\/a>CHOP-UP <\/a> and scattered.<\/p>\n

Right here right now I have decided to join<\/a> the many bloggers<\/a> who are speaking out.<\/p>\n

Speaking out in sadness<\/a> over the loss of a life.<\/p>\n

Speaking out in anger<\/a> over the callous and insensitive (in)actions of those in the media.<\/p>\n

Speaking out in hope<\/a> that somewhere, somehow, someday we shall all learn to value the lives of those that so many refer to as \u00c3\u00a2\u00e2\u201a\u00ac\u00cb\u0153other\u00c3\u00a2\u00e2\u201a\u00ac\u00e2\u201e\u00a2. <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
