Yes I finally decided to put my Kenyan running genes <\/a>to the test and partake in some long distance running. I managed to convince 2 other people to give up their Sunday morning lie in and join me in taking part in a 10 mile run.<\/p>\n

On Sunday 25th July we made our way to the Wagon and Horses pub in Lancaster. This is where things started to go slightly wrong. We thought that since the run was called the Wagon and Horses it would start in front of the Wagon and Horses pub. Apparently this was not the case. The start line was a further two miles ahead and as we looked on in into the horizon we saw the runners take off. <\/p>\n

For the entire race we were playing catch up but we had so much fun. It was exhausting and it rained non-stop but we really enjoyed the experience. We got lost on the way back but we eventually found the right path. The race marshals were encouraging and even when we got back to the finish line and were told that the last runner had arrived an hour before us we still kept on smiling.<\/p>\n

How could we have felt disappointed? We achieved everything we had set out to do. We completed the race, we raised \u00c3\u201a\u00c2\u00a3280 and we enjoyed ourselves. It was a brilliant day!<\/p>\n

\nAs an aside, I also worked out what many Kenyans have known for ages, we are not genetically programmed to win every single long distance run.
