San Pedro<\/a> is a town located on Ambergris Caye. We travelled by bus from Belmopan to Belize City on Friday afternoon and the caught a water taxi to the island. The boat ride was windy and bumpy and by the time we arrived on the island my knees were wobbly. We stayed at Pedros Backpackers Inn which was a lovely, clean and cheap place.<\/p>\n

Highlight of Weekend<\/b> Sitting on the beach with two Belizeans and a volunteer, watching the sunrise while they drummed and sang Bob Marley songs.<\/p>\n

Jerry Springer Moment<\/b> Woke up on Saturday morning to find policeman patrolling the grounds and the rooms. Apparently the guy who lives next door to the Inn had a party the night before which included some female strippers from New York. The strippers had been working without a license and so the party was broken up and the strippers were taken to to Belize City jail!<\/p>\n

Crazy White Kids Moment<\/b> There is a river in San Pedro and most evenings a man turns up to feed the crocodiles. One of the volunteers was keen to see this so I accompanied him and his bag of chicken bones to the river. The crocodile feeder did not turn up so the volunteer I was with took it upon himself to start throwing bones into the water. I saw one ripple in the water and I was on my bike (we hired bikes). I stood a safe distance, way on the other side of the road and watched as some of the other volunteers turned up to take pictures of this crocodile as it made its way out of the water .
