I left the house at 6.45 this morning all suited and booted and made my way to Belmopan Bus terminal. Mr Peryfitte was acting for one of the defendants in a manslaughter case and I decided to tag along and watch. I had to stop at the cash machine but the ATM was out of service. I should have taken it as an omen but I was too excited to care plus I had enough to catch a bus so I did not panic. <\/p>\n

The bus I caught was virtually empty so I had a choice of seats and as I sat down I realised the guy on the seat across the aisle was a member of Sunset band. I barely recognised him as (a) it was daytime (b) he was all suited and booted too. We got talking and I found out that by day he is a teacher! <\/p>\n

I arrived in Belize City at 9 am and made my way to the Supreme Court. Mr Peyrefitte turned up and we went in to the courtroom and waited…and waited…and waited. Around 9.30 am I was informed that there had been an overlap and that the case I had come to watch would not be heard today! The judge entered at about 10 am and the lawyers made a few submissions and by 10.15 am it was over! <\/p>\n

There was no way I was getting back on a bus straight away so I stayed to watch a bit of another case but since it was coming to an end I found it hard to keep up. I tried to get hold of the Croc Wrestler but he was not around in the morning so I decided to get some breakfast.<\/p>\n

As I ate my eggs and sausages at Daddies Diner I remembered that Indio (the rastafarian musician I met in Belmopan) had mentioned that he worked in Belize City. I had promised to buy his CD at some point so I figured now was as good a time as any. I called him up and he said he was just leaving Belmopan for Belize City and that he would arrive at about noon. <\/p>\n

With an hour to kill I decided to walk by the sea front and as I wandered down I realised I had just walked past the Bliss Institute ( a performing arts centre). I knew there was a CWW volunteer who was working at the Bliss, I had met her on my training weekend but had not seen her in Belize so I thought it would be nice to say hello. We had lunch together and just as we finished Indio called me and said he was at the bus terminal. <\/p>\n

I met with Indio and he autographed my copy of Push Up the Fire. I asked if he had a website and he said he was looking for someone to help him design one. I gave him my site address and told him I could help out if he needed a hand. We had a brief discussion on locks and then I boarded my bus back to Belmopan.<\/p>\n

What had started off as a wasted morning turned out to be a fairly good day though by the time I got back my feet were killing me…it is the first time I have worn heels in Belize…never again.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
