As I walked around Belmopan with another volunteer we noticed a huge blue and white circus style tent had been set up so we went to find out more. A lady told us that the circus was opening tonight at 5.30pm and since I have never been to a circus show we decided it would be a good way to spend a few hours.

Getting to the big tent was an adventure in itself. The circus trucks had turned the muddy road into a swamp and by the time we made it to the ticket booth our shoes and trousers were caked in mud.

At about 6pm we were sat in the tent, the lights went off and some man announced something in Spanish (the circus came in from Mexico). I do not speak a word of Spanish and when the lights came on I realised it was the better. In the ring right in front of us were three huge tigers! There was a huge cage thing that seperated us from certain death but the way the ring master was whipping those tigers, you could tell that they were ready to jump out any time. 95% of the audience were children and they were at the edge of their seats, whereas I and the other volunteer I went with, were pinned right back in shock!
