Tonight I am off to Cayo (again!) to watch an international friendly between then Belize u17 national team and the El Salvador ‘grown up’ national team. I know I have loads of work to do but I have spent the last few hours debating who to cheer for seeing as I am neither Belizean or Salvadoran. This is how far I have got…<\/p>\n

Personal Connection<\/b>
\nThe main reason I am going to watch the game is because I know the Technical Director of the Belizean team and I thought it would be nice to support ‘his boys’. So on the personal connection front it is Belize 1 Salvador 0<\/b><\/p>\n

Female Perspective<\/b>
\nI know real football fans do not like to hear this but sometimes as a woman I pick my team according to how attractive the players are. In this round the Belizean team are non-starters, not because of how they look but they are under 17 so Salvador wins hands down. So far it is a draw: Belize 1 Salvador 1<\/b><\/p>\n

Tie Breaker: Always Bet on Black<\/b>
\nThis may not be a PC thing to say but I know many of ‘we black folk’ do this; anytime we see a black person in a competitive setting that is usually white dominated we tend to support the black person. Be it on ‘Blind date’, ‘Big Brother’, ‘Who Wants to Be a Millionaire’ or the Eurovision Song Contest! <\/p>\n

Belize has an amazing racial make-up but the majority are black so in this round Belize wins: Belize 2 Salvador 0<\/b><\/p>\n
