Duration of party: 13 Hours!

Funds raised: £70

Murder Mystery Game: How To Host A Murder: The Watersdown Affair donated by James and John.

Number of times ‘Baby Cakes’ was sung: Too many to mention.

Amount of alcohol consumed:

  • 40 Bottles of lager;
  • 1 litre of vodka;
  • 1 litre of Tia Maria;
  • 1/4 litre of Malibu; and
  • 6 bottles of wine.

Disclaimer: I can’t remember very much.

My friends and family travelled from London, Manchester, Nuneaton, Birmingham, Stoke-on-Trent and the other side of Lancaster town to attend the very last minute farewell party at our place in Lancaster on Saturday 18th September.

I can not begin to imagine how tired most of them were by the time they got here but I can honestly say that apart from cooking I did nothing else. In fact from the minute I sat down to eat, to the moment I decided to drag Tango for a tour of Lancaster town at 9 am on Sunday morning, I was waited on hand and foot.

In spite of the fact that most of the people who attended had previously contributed to my Belize trip and that most of them are students they still contributed financially and provided all the alcohol 🙂

The word harambee is Kiswahili for working together. The events of Saturday night/Sunday morning have proven to me that the true spirit of harambee still exists.

I know I use the word ‘blessed’ all the time but I felt incredibly blessed to have such loving and generous friends and family. I can not end this entry without individual shout outs (in alphabetical order) to everyone who made the party a great success.

Amandla: I can’t thank you enough sister but I certainly never ever want to be stranded at sea with you. I do love you though.

Benji: The original ‘Baby cakes!’. We go way back to those days of ‘mukwa wa kameme” and you will always be my boy. You were an excellent waiter on the night and I am going to miss you.

Daudi: You literally moved heaven and earth to get to Lancaster and just when I thought you couldn’t impress me any more you turned up with a full bottle of Tia Maria. I have mad love for you D.

Emma: Girl, you are an amazing friend. You turned up ready to party, fully equipped with bottles of wine and a giving heart. I am really going to miss you.

Ife: Reliable and dependable in every way. Since the start of this Belize thing you have been on call 24/7. Thank you very much.

Kirsty: You have been a great help in so many ways. Thank you, thank you, thank you. You are such a beautiful person inside and out.

Mich: Though you are not a guest I still have to thank you for just being 100% behind me in all of this. You are the love of my life babes.

Pambi: Bro ,thank you for everything. It has been so much fun hanging out and a party certainly ain’t a party without Jigga!

Tango: Not only were you the last man standing but you also washed ALL the dishes; thank you! Just for the record though Kilimanjaro belongs to Kenya 🙂 and Wakili is NOT my real name.

p.s my blue dress: thank you for making me look good.
