Snowed In…

Mon 28th November 2005 MamaJunkYard

What was meant to be a lovely weekend away, visiting my brother at Keele University has turned into a mini-disaster. This morning we awoke to find the entire campus covered in inches of snow. Buses and taxi services to and from the University have been cancelled. The train station is a 20 minute drive away, on a good day! Walking is out of the question. I have to be at work by 9 am tomorrow morning, which wouldn’t be difficult to achieve if I didn’t work 60 miles away from Keele. I am aiming to catch an early morning train, if the taxi service is back on but then I have the small problem of what to wear to work. I packed for a weekend of student merriment and mayhem and I certainly looked the part all weekend. Should I make it work tomorrow I have the small problem of explaining to my boss why I look like I slept in a bus shelter.

That aside, the white blanket all over campus looks beautiful. I have had great fun laughing at people falling over. So far I have successfully avoided being ‘taken out’ by one of the stray snowballs. Best of all though is that the Student Bar is still acessible and their prices are possibly the lowest in the country.

Oh, and please forgive the typos, I am using a non-English keyboard. I am still having great difficulty locating most of the punctuation marks.

Oh no – I think London has been spared the white stuff for the time being. I dont know whether its too late but you could go buy a couple of things eg. a jacket that would make your casual wear look ‘official’ – but if you have footwear like trainers and maybe not enough finances at the moment to buy a decent pair of shoes, you are on your own LOL

Hope you find a safe and fast way to get home. BTW was the student bar open 24hrs?

Let’s hope you are back tomorrow – it was too quiet today! There was some snow in Manchester, but it kept melting… Boo!

You poor thing! Pole sana. It is quite cold in London however it will be fairly mild over the next few days and not a sign of snow! Just relax and enjoy being ‘back at school’.

What is about up north that just gets snow while in the south it is just plain cold. Packing bags is easy to travel and see the world and can you imagine if life was not filled with adventure. I hope you got into work alright.

Sounds like the weekend was good fun not to mention the snow blessings and oh to the cheap drinks and the convenience.

I hope you made work regardless and your boss was understanding…

MJY, hope you made it back safely. Had the same issue in my neck of the woods, people can’t drive, much less walk in this stuff.

    Snow sux!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I hate it with every fiber in me. It is no longer cute to me. When I see the white mess all I can think of is falling, not being able to open car doors, getting shocked everytime you touch anything, that yucky slush when it starts melting, freezing freezing and more freezing, missing the sunshine of kenya, putting up with sour moods all day etc
Did I say snow sux?! 🙂
I am back with vengence LOL
