After the Christmas, New Year and Valentine’s binge I have decided enough is enough. I need to flush out all the toxins from my body, give up all my vices and start looking after me.
I did a detox in 2001 and for about 6 months I ate no meat, drank no alcohol, consumed no caffeine and inhaled no nicotine. The getting started was the hardest but after two days I found it easier and it did make a difference.
This time around I want to try and do it for at least a month and then review the situation. Here is a break down of things that I shall not eat, drink or smoke for the next four weeks.
Meat – Easy. Didn’t eat meat for three years.
Junk Food of any kind
Booze – Thought this may be hard but I have various bottles of booze left over from Christmas and I still haven’t touched it…even the half bottle of Tia Maria is still there.
Silk Cuts – or any other brand of tobacco/nicotine. This shall be the hardest of the lot.
Wheat Products – Out goes the ready in two minutes pasta and the bread.
Dairy Products – This is easy. I don’t like milk anyway.
Caffeine – hmm.. Another tough one. No more double shot espressos for breakfast.
White Rice â€“ thatâ€™s out too!
I can however eat as much fruit and vegetables as I want and drink as much herbal tea as I can handle.
To ensure that I have all my vitamins and to aid the cleaning out process I shall take supplements including:
Linseed â€“ This is like bird food but good for you.
Aloe Vera Juice â€“ cleans out the insides.
Spirulina â€“sea weeds in tablet form
Milk Thistle â€“ restores the liver.
