On September 1, 1939, two days before Britain declared war on Germany, the BBC’s television station was unceremoniously taken off air at 12:10pm after the broadcast of the Mickey Mouse cartoon, Mickey’s Gala Première.
BBC television returned on June 7, 1946 at 3pm. Remarkably, programmes restarted with the same Mickey Mouse cartoon of 1939, introduced with the announcement: “As we were saying before we were so rudely interrupted…”
If it worked for the BBC after a break of nearly seven years then it can work for me and my two and half month blog break…
Thank you to all my blog family and friends who sent emails and text messages, your patience, concern and threats have not gone unnoticed.

From one veteran AWOLee to another, welcome back!
Glad to see you are back.
I’m looking forward to seeing your travelling tales recounted in all their glory.
ALILIIIIIIIIII! forgot the LUMBAO I had to give you a ngemi(sp) better put that in brackets before the grammar correction police get on to my case. Nice to have you back if you could see me I have done a yeeeessss and booty shake. You can not imagine how I looked forlornly at that empty space waiting for the next post. It is your fault you and Mshairi as you introduced me to the joy of blogging. I can understand the long interval but wajama did you have to go for so long?????
